Injection Well Monitoring
In this example, Whisker.Block™ wireless sensors are monitoring a VFD and tank battery for an injection well. A Modbus RTU Whisker.Block™ is connected via RS-485 to the VFD to monitor pump status, voltage, speed, and current. A WB1-9-00-A4A4A4A4-0000-LR Whisker.Block is connected to a pressure transducer mounted at the bottom of four tanks. Sensor data is collected periodically and forwarded to the Whisker.io® cloud platform, providing remote access to data and alerts. Additionally, sensor data is provided to a PLC via ModbusTCP and an Ignition server using SparkPlugB.

Equipment Health Monitoring
Whisker.Block® IIoT sensors are perfect for equipment health monitoring. Digital inputs can be configured for on/off or missing pulse mode to track equipment running and fault status, analog inputs can be used to monitor motor temperature and current, and the Modbus RTU block can be used to monitor various parameters of a VFD. Data from all of these sensors can be forwarded to the Whisker.io® cloud platform providing mobile access to data and alerts. PLCs and HMIs can access the sensor data through the Smart.Hub™ via ModbusTCP. And, if you want to use Ignition, the sensor data can be sent to an Ignition server using SparkPlugB.

City Water Remote Watering
In this example, Whisker.Block™ wireless sensors are monitoring water wells (pump run/pump start), water tower level, and one or more sewage lift stations. The wells use our event tracking feature to monitor pump run and pump start signals, reporting changes as time stamped events. The sewage lift station uses multiple channels to monitor float switches, pump run, pump fail, and pump current. All data is stored in the Whisker.io® portal allowing water works employees to receive text alerts when there are problems and access the sensor data from their mobile devices.
